Primary applications are in industrial water treatment
Recirculating cooling water in industrial process cooling systems and commercial and residential building comfort cooling systems. Especially useful in systems that re-use wastewater.
Uses - a truly multipurpose chemistry
- Organic deposit penetration
- Organic deposit dispersal
- Organic deposit cleaning
- Corrosion inhibition - especially for yellow metals (copper-based alloys)
- Specialty scale control (especially sulfur)
- Microbicide - for use only outside of the US (contact us for more information).

Key features of DTEA II™ in water treatment applications
General use conditions - DTEA II™ is unaffected by high organic load, or high concentrations of ammonia, hydrogen sulfide, or other strongly nucleophilic species. It can be used in high recycle, high solids systems.
Use with other water treatment chemicals – DTEA II™ can be used with oxidizing and non-oxidizing biocides and common water treatment chemicals. If using with glutaraldehyde, DTEA II™ can form a pink colored solution - contact us for more information.
Use as a formulation component – DTEA II™ can be used in custom formulations, for example to replace BZT and TTA triazole corrosion inhibitors.
Reduction of biocide demand – After organic deposits are dispersed with DTEA II™, biocide treatments are more effective, reducing usage and cost.
Biodegradability – DTEA II™ is biodegradable. In closed systems it is persistent, however, in open systems it has an environmentally friendly degradation profile – ideal for difficult to manage waste streams.
How does DTEA II™ work?
DTEA II™ works at the interface between liquid and solid phases. In industrial water systems, the interfaces are between the water and organic deposits, structural metal surfaces, or inorganic deposits. Thus DTEA II™ is well suited for deposit penetration, dispersion, and cleaning; and film formation on metal surfaces.
