Intended applications
DTEA II™ is unique in its multifunctional properties. These properties are useful in organic deposit penetration, dispersal, and removal; corrosion inhibition; as an agent to reduce the organic demand on oxidizing materials found in industrial cooling and related process waters; and mineral and select element flotation.
DTEA II™ is not used, sold, promoted, or warranted for use as a biocide in the USA and countries wherein local laws prohibit its use as a biocide unless otherwise authorized.
DTEA II™ is for industrial cooling and process water only. Human and animal contact uses are not approved; it is not approved for swimming pools, wading pools, and the like.
AMSA, Inc. does not recommend the use of any products for use in air scrubbers/washers unless the material is specifically approved, tested or otherwise warranted for this use as a maintenance chemical.
Handling and Safety
DTEA II™ is an organic chemical which is formulated either in water or a water-soluble solid matrix. These formulations contain no heavy metals or regulated chemicals. DTEA II™ products require handling that conforms to typical procedures for strong industrial strength cleaners, deposit control agents, etc. Shipping is not regulated as per DOT standards.
DTEA II™ products contain a concentrated organic chemical. Do not take internally. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Should contact occur, flush promptly with water. If any discomfort occurs, consult a physician. Read the Material Safety Data Sheets (see below) before handling these products.
Ecotoxicity
DTEA II™ is biodegradable (OECD guidelines), but not approved for direct discharge to rivers and waterways, and is considered to be toxic to fish at concentrated use levels as this or any other material which is surface active.
How is DTEA II™ Green?
The reduction of the use of biocides and related chemicals is a goal of environmentally friendly technologies in industrial water treatment. DTEA II™ can be applied with both oxidizing and non-oxidizing microbiocides to disperse deposits into the water where they will be more susceptible to the toxic effects of the applied microbiocides, thereby enabling operators to achieve the same level of microbiological control while applying significantly lower concentrations of toxic chemical biocides.
